"The Auditor-Controller should be communicating with the public regularly when there are successes and also challenges. One should question the intentions of those who don't want the public to hear from its elected officials."

All the people above were sworn in three years ago. Four are retiring, Sheriff William Honsal is running unopposed, Fifth District Supervisor Steve Madrone and Humboldt Auditor-Controller Karen Paz Dominguez are running for re-election. Elected officials are chosen by voters.

I want an elected official who realizes they are accountable to all members of the public, especially after the election, and understands they get paid by the taxpayers. Rubber stamping for the good ole boys and gals works for them, their friends and family. Anyone the Humboldt Connected attack repeatedly is because they are against transparency and cannot control. I want an Auditor Controller who doesn't rubber stamp what the good ole boys and gals think is okay.  I am sharing one of Auditor Controller Karen Paz Dominguez's posts because she certainly has not gotten a fair shake from the rest of the local media in the last several months.

Whether she is re-elected or not, there is information and concerns raised by various different people. Unless you have money to throw away or a part of the Humboldt cabal, you should want answers and transparency about how your money is spent.

May 12 post from Humboldt Auditor Controller Karen Paz Dominguez's page:

"We've heard a lot of talk about "communication" during this race for Auditor-Controller.

I've been criticized for not answering emails but also for the way I answer e-mails. Ive been criticized for not answering enough emails but also for catching up on emails every chance I get (while traveling, while in the hospital, or in the middle of the night.) I've been criticized for being short in my emails but also for writing emails that are "too long". I've been criticized for using certain words even though I used them exactly as defined in the dictionary. People have said I didn't communicate to them what the expectations of my department are yet I can point to dozens of instances where I laid out those expectations as clear as day for them to see. While I beIieve there's plenty of room for improvement, I do not believe my communication is the problem.

I have done more in the last 5 years to communicate to the County organization and to the public about the Office of the Auditor-Controller and its important function than anyone else in the last 30 years. Anyone that tells you "we shouldn't be hearing about the Auditor-Controller at all if they're doing a good job" is misinformed about what it means to be elected by the public. The Auditor-Controller should be communicating with the public regularly when there are successes and also challenges. One should question the intentions of those who don't want the public to hear from its elected officials."

Please watch the candidate forum linked below to see my opponent's and my styles of communication and remember that public speaking is part of the job.
