Forcible rape suspect Hudson Jack to be arraigned this afternoon

 


Hudson Jack is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon on the three charges he was booked for last week. 

Jack was arrested by Arcata Police Department for PC 289 (i) forcible penetration of a victim with a foreign object, PC 289(e), PC 261 (a)(1) nonconsensual sexual intercourse by means of threats, force or fraud.

Jack was arraigned on 5/16. Bail was set by court at $150,000. Public Defender's office appointed. OR/bail is on 5/18; preliminary hearing is on 5/26. 






5/18:  OR/SR denied bail by Judge Christopher Wilson. Bail set at $75,000 without prejudice. Criminal protective order filed and served. Preliminary hearing is on 5/26.

5/26: Deputy Public Defender Wade Orbelian requested a continuance. There was no objection by Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer. Time waiver entered for 10 and 60 day. Setting of preliminary hearing is on 6/30.

6/30: Preliminary hearing on 8/18. Time estimate 1 hr and a half.

8/18: Preliminary hearing continued to 10/5. Deputy Trent Timm objected. Deputy Public Defender Wade Orbelian's motion to continue was granted by Judge Kaleb Cockrum. Defense needs to do further investigation to prepare for preliminary hearing.
