Rhett August was doomed when he returned to Humboldt. With his record and the law, Judge Kelly Neel made the right decision. August had no chance at his OR/bail hearing before arguments. He had the misfortune of having Deputy Public Defender Adrian Kamada appear on his case that day who is no match against Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees.

In March, convicted felon Rhett August was arrested by HCSO on a Ramey warrant for criminal threats, PC273 a (a) child endangerment likely to cause great bodily injury and harm, PC30305 (a) felon in possession of ammunition, PC 29800 (a) (1) felon in posession of a firearm, PC 245(a) (2) assault with a firearm on a person, PC 246 shooting at an inhabited dwelling or occupied car and PC 246.3 (a), negligent discharge of a firearm.

Bail at booking $150,000. August was arrested for an incident in Blue Lake. August was arraigned on March 16. The DA's complaint has three counts and one special allegation and does not include some of the booking charges.

August had a preliminary hearing scheduled today. This hearing was continued on March 24 by defense. On 3/18, defense motion regarding bail was denied. August is on a no bail status.

I first covered August during the Bodhi Tree case. I feel sorry for his mother who I spoke with during my coverage of the Tree case. August left for a while but when he moved back to Humboldt, he added to his criminal record.
