Myers Flat woman lost her job, phone turned offand her failure to appear resulted in second request for release being denied

 


On May 27, Devon Hanson was arraigned on a warrant. Hanson was arrested by CHP on May 26 on a bench warrant for her case which includes DUI charges and battery on an officer. Hanson had been previously granted supervised release by Judge Christopher Wilson.

On May 25, Hanson failed to appear for her preliminary hearing.  Retired Judge Marilyn Miles Judge Marilyn Miles issued a bench warrant for $45,000. 

On May 27, Deputy District Attorney Candace Myers was in court for the People. Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell appeared on behalf of her office with Hanson.

Retired Judge Judge John Feeney brought up Hanson's Placer County hold. After listening to both attorneys, Judge Feeney said that "given Hanson's failure to appear", defense request for second supervised release is denied.

Ms. O'Connell told Judge Feeney that Hanson's "job is no longer waiting for her. Her phone is turned off. She lives in Myers Flat and couldn't get transportation to court. She borrowed a phone and couldn't get in touch with probation officer."Something about Hanson going to Garberville was said. "She has a place to stay in Eureka the night before court."

Ms. Myers said that People opposed release. She said on May 19, people also opposed release and Judge Wilson said,"it was a close call."

Hanson's preliminary hearing was rescheduled for June 8.
