All that brouhaha about a lawsuit when there is no proof of service or future date

I have written a few times about how civil lawsuits work with endless filings and case management conferences dragging on for months and years. These cases mostly resolve with not much known about the details. Just read up on the State lawsuit against Humboldt DHHS and HCSO. You can access the coverage on this blog via the search feature.

Splashing a headline about a lawsuit just filed against the County and Auditor Controller which Karen Paz Dominguez had not seen yet, wasting Board of Supervisor Clerk Kathy Hayes time about an incorrect time stamp and making a writ of judicial mandate sound like it was something unusual and a big deal. A proof of service hasn't even been filed by the State of California for this lawsuit. There is no date set on the case.

That is what happens when a lazy local media outlet with no clue about the local court system gets a complaint leaked with a political agenda against one woman who won't kow tow to the Humboldt connected.

A writ of mandate doesn't deserve the hype Lost Coast Outpost tried to drum up. If they care so much about writs, why don't they cover other writs and lawsuits filed against County Board of Supervisors or the City of Eureka? I have.

"The writ of mandate is a type of extraordinary writ in the U.S. state of California. In California, certain writs are used by the superior courts, courts of appeal and the Supreme Court to command lower bodies, including both courts and administrative agencies, to do or not to do certain things."-- Wikipedia

Just like the no confidence vote by the BOS, this is a symbolic gesture and  political posturing. All this distraction takes away from the focus on how the public's money is being spent and the cost to taxpayers by inept local leadership.

There are enough options on Facebook and other local media where the County and County employees and their friends are running a campaign against Paz Dominguez and attacking any independent coverage regarding the Auditor Controller. Do not troll my page and try and hide behind a scrubbed and restricted Facebook account.
