Just because First District Rex Bohn and Sheriff William Honsal want fentanyl in the headlines constantly for their agenda, I am not publishing every press release fentanyl or about repeat offenders .
Local judges need to start having these criminals face consequences; Rex and Billy need to lobby state legislators for changes in current California law. Soundbytes, TV appearances and blaming San Francisco isn't going to change anything. Rex and Billy use those state connections when it is convenient. What has Rex done to make the Humboldt economy less dependent on drugs?
Mike McGuire, Jim Wood and Jared Huffman have not done any legislation that has meaningful impact on public safety, law and order or reducing the flow of drugs in Humboldt or California. Their feel good press releases do nothing for the 99%. Government money is doled out by petty, biased locals to whom they deem worthy. North Coast politicians just appease special interests and posture politically. Conservatives are just as much as to blame for more people dependent on the government and the drug culture.
CalPoly, DHHS, the travel nurses used by local hospitals use up most of the housing in this County. Developers and property owners want to rent places as Air BNBs but they are the same ones whining about people on the streets, drugs and crime?
The property owners just want the dollars and plenty of conservatives take that government money. So who created homelessness? Throwing grants at temporary housing is not going to fix the problem when more people are being forced out on the street due to greed.
Unless you are a Humboldt local with daddy or mommy handing you a business, work in administration for Cal Poly, the County, a non profit or have daddy and mommy as Humboldt Supervisors, life in Humboldt is the pits.
Raise your hand if you have never made money off drugs and that includes weed when it was illegal. How many businesses, including "conservatives" have profited from funding their ventures with pot money. How many well known Humboldt names have been arrested for possession of hard drugs? Pot is legal but there are still illegal grows. Some of the illegal crowd doesn't partake in hard drugs?
The next DA and Humboldt Superior Judge can only do so much. Point the finger and blame where it belongs, politicians collecting a fat paycheck funded by selfish, greedy people who refuse to fix the problems they and the money behind them created.
