Billy and Rex interviewed by Fox News

"Drug dealing fentanyl is not a victimless crime," said Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal. He said family, friends and loved ones were affected by this horrible drug.

Rex and Billy, you know what else is not a victimless crime? Human trafficking, rape, homicides, home invasions assaults and all the other drugs that are and have been readily available in Humboldt for years. Those crimes are not happening due to fentanyl coming in from San Francisco.

Rex, take lessons from Billy on media appearances and talking on camera. Interrupting the interviewer mid question on national TV and you rambling on was embarassing to watch.

Considering Humboldt's reputation, the regional and national backlash about this letter to the San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin's was predictable.

After the statement from Boudin's office was shown on Fox News, Rex you said, "I might have gotten the wrong address."

Of the current Humboldt elected officials, only Billy and Maggie should be allowed to speak to media outside Humboldt. The others need to take elocution lessons.

Before you criticize other cities or counties, Rex and Billy, take responsibility for alleged criminals and repeat offenders who are released from the jail daily. Who is in charge of the jail? HCDTF did not book two people they arrested yesterday on charges of child endangerment. These were convicted felons who had three children in a vehicle and allegedly in posession of drugs and firearms. The same HCDTF with your buddy Sgt. Matt Tomlin.

Rex, besides depending on the pot golden goose, grants and taxing people constantly, what have you and the County done to encourage private enterprise that does not benefit your family and friends?

Litigation costs and expenses caused by bad hiring choices due to poor decisions while you have been on the Board of Supervisors could have been used for roads, mental health, drug rehab and retaining experienced law enforcement.

Humboldt criminals and their mugshots now displayed nationwide.

Many individuals and businesses depend on income from outside Humboldt. This is not the kind of national publicity that benefits them. This letter was a poorly conceived idea and the execution was worse. Fox News isn't the only place this stunt has backfired.

Many locals who have a clue about what needs to be fixed in Humboldt and the people who are the problem spoke up before the national humiliation today. After today, except for sycophants such as Aaron Ostrom, Dave Varshock (who moved  and doesn't even live here) and a few others on Rex's Facebook page, most locals  are not mincing words, especially about Rex's and Humboldt history.

Just some of the comments on Twitter and Fox News about Eureka and Humboldt:

Fox News finally pays attention to Humboldt County because this headline fits their narrative.
