Will Dennis Mayo testify about the Humboldt Auction Yard and Ray Christie's cattle purchases?

Tomorrow is a hearing on the People's motion to continue in the Ray Christie case which was served on the defense Friday, entered into the court system today. If you did not read the post on April 29 and are not following regular coverage, you will need to catch up via links.The defense filed an opposition to the People's motion to continue this afternoon.

I know some of the people in the community privately telling Christie they support him. I have spoken to a few of them. The names may surprise you just as the one name I was surprised to see in the potential defense witness list today was Dennis Mayo.How will Rex Bohn, Justin Mora, Billy Honsal feel about Mayo's potential testimony?

"The People are not telling the truth. They have offered up outright falsehoods, in a sworn declaration no less, in their misguided effort to obtain an extension on their Court-ordered deadline to respond to our Motion Regarding the People's Trial Evidence. "

"The People pretend our motion challenging their unsubstantiated and anemic trial evidence caught them by surprise. They claim they had no idea what the four witnesses who support our motion would say. In the biggest whopper of all, the People actually swear under penalty of perjury that our four witnesses were never “previously mentioned by the defense in the four year pendency of this case. This is a sad and regrettable commentary on how the Humboldt County District Attorney’s office is handling this case. "

"The Court must deny the People’s Motion to Continue because offering up falsehoods to the Court in support of a continuance does not constitute good cause.  The time to decide the evidentiary issues raised in our Motion is now.  We ask the Court to deny the People’s Motion to Continue and hold them to the Court’s previously-ordered response date. "

Christie will be unable to attend tomorrow's hearing due to a previously scheduled doctor’s appointment in Los Angeles related to his cancer treatment

Defense served Deputy District Attorney Steve Steward. Due to our schedules, I was able to reach him at the end of the day and speak briefly.Since the hearing is tomorrow morning, I will add his comments from court.

Judge Elvine-Kreis was not in today. Will he be in tomorrow. He won't be at the courthouse this Friday. Will anything happen tomorrow?
