Humboldt County’s COVID-19 case count remains at 50 as no additional positive cases were confirmed today.
Means of transmission have been identified in all 50 cases. Contact investigations conducted to date indicate 23 had contact with a known case and 20 had traveled outside of the county. A total of seven cases were acquired through community transmission.
Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich said it was too soon to say for certain, but she was hopeful that Public Health’s aggressive contact investigations and subsequent isolation and quarantine procedures, in combination with community efforts in complying with shelter-in-place orders and other measures. is having an impact on slowing local transmission. “I thank everyone for their cooperation to date and going forward,” Frankovich said. “We know there will be increasing numbers of cases throughout our county over time. An important measure of success is whether we are able to slow the increase enough to ensure appropriate health care is available when our residents need it.”
