HDSO endorses Rex Bohn and Estelle Fennell
The Humboldt Deputy Sheriffs Organization (HDSO) today urged Humboldt County residents to vote to re-elect Supervisors Rex Bohn and Estelle Fennell.
HDSO President Jamie Barney thanked all candidates for their commitment to keeping Humboldt County a safe place to live and work and raise families.
“We think both Rex and Estelle understand that we need to be aggressive and creative in solving the huge shortage of deputies we are facing - and that includes doing whatever it takes to recruit and retain the best possible public safety professionals for our community.”
"We're confident that there is a solution," said HDSO President Jamie Barney, "Our members are on the front line in our community, but they also live here, have families here, and want a safe and healthy community for all. Humboldt County has voted twice to tax themselves for better public safety services and increased coverage - and we are hopeful that Rex and Estelle have the experience to know that there are no shortcuts - we simply need to do a better job with recruitment and retention of our front line public safety personnel to deliver the service the public demands.”
Barney said HDSO members are happy that both candidates have taken the time to familiarize themselves with the many issues facing Humboldt County.
“Rex and Estelle both know how hard our deputies work, and we have confidence our community will continue to support full staffing for our department.”
