"I ain't doing anything wrong. Go ahead call EPD. OMG, he's calling emergency""

Last night, thanks to two irresponsible drunk/ high idiots, I was awakened at 1:45 with four EPD cars conducting a traffic stop and field sobriety test. Couldn't sleep, then had a long day at the courthouse. Two EPD cars when I came home. After that I thought, maybe one peaceful night, not going to happen. This is a daily occurrence in Eutweeka.

This photo and post doesn't have the area where the sharpie container is placed. That photo was in a previous post about similar issues. Both sides of the gate, especially where the shed is are private property.

Constant issues due to the problem alley behind and the drug houses half a block away. Dispatch is familiar. It was worse before the lock was installed on that gate and the floodlight. And it took persistence on my part getting that solution.

It doesn't help that several people supplement their income getting people hooked. That is affordable housing in Eureka. You can pay anywhere from $700 to a $1,000 for a studio or onebedroom to live with the mentally ill, druggies and pedophiles. Most landlords and property owners prefer those renters over hardworking citizens since that County check is guaranteed. And those renters won't complain about the sub standard properties. Floyd Squires is the norm in Eureka; not the exception. Eureka Code Enforcement Department is a joke.

If you happen to be the exception and are the tenant who works, well you are screwed.

Day and night, able bodied junkies fight, yell, smoke, trash. A few minutes ago, I nicely asked someone to move off the property. That was my mistake; being nice. Considering what he was doing and the disturbance he was causing, I should have just called EPD. I am not going into all the details of why this rose to the level of having to call EPD.

Emboldened criminals mouth off. This young, healthy guy wouldn't move. I gave him a few chances, told him I would call, then called EPD. His reaction, "I ain't doing anything wrong.  Go ahead call EPD. OMG, he's calling emergency." Then proceeded to throw that pink seat at me while smoking his joint.  He picked up his "stuff" and ran while I was taking to dispatch. A few minutes respite until the next junkie came along. Most of the time, I don't call EPD. As I was writing this post, I had to call EPD the second time. This time it was in my apartment building and outside my apartment. This guy was even bolder. He blocked my leaving by sitting on the stairwell. He wanted his fix and no one was getting in the way. I know which apartment he was "visiting."

EPD responds and cares. Property owners  don't care and the City could care less because who is holding them accountable?  Certainly not the other media. Mayor Susan Seaman is too busy complaining about lack of tax revenue while ignoring why this is a welfare County.

Two weeks ago, Humboldt Bay Fire and City Ambulance were here at 3 p.m. They left in 10 minutes. Another "medical call." My neighbors who live in the area thank me, yet don't do their part in keeping the property safe. This post and others reflect what is going on in all the apartments and houses around me.

The useless City Council will ignore it, as usual. And what is the new City Manager doing about this problem.? His inaction isnt helping me or anyone else who actually works for a living sleep or have peace where we live and work.

This is all over Eureka. This is the same alley where the woman was assaulted in November and died. Her blood is on the hands of this City Council.

I am going send this post to HGTV in support of the City's application. It isn't as if the County, the City or the business community gives a damn because they all profit from the status quo. You cannot be business or tourist friendly with junkies as your main asset. Not much has changed since the 1800s in Eureka. EPD is still dealing with "rowdies and druggies."

Why do working people struggling to stay afloat and businesses paying taxes have to put up with junkies and bums and erect ugly fences just to secure their property? This is not due to a Ninth circuit ruling. It is  because of the inept, current City Council who do not value their tax base or law abiding citizens.
