On Monday, Chai Her had his bail bond reinstated, today another bench warrant was issued since he was a no show, again

Kidnapping suspect Chai Her's preliminary examination was scheduled for today.

Her is charged with Count 1, kidnapping; the alleged victim is Jennifer Talynn Hurn. Count 2 is False imprisonment by violence; alleged victim is Hurn. Count 3 is Fleeing a pursuing peace officer's motor vehicle while driving recklessly; special allegation for Count 3 is that Her has a prior conviction of a serious or violent felony or juvenile adjudication.

Her failed to appear at intervention on February 5. A bench warrant for $125,000 was issued and held until February 18. On that day, at intervention, Her's bail bond was reinstated.

Today, Her was a no show, again. Deputy Conflict Counsel Owen Tipps and Deputy District Attorney Candace Myers met with Visiting Judge William Follett privately in chambers.

Then, in open court, Mr. Tipps said he had contact with his client and asked that a bench warrant be issued but held until the next court hearing. Setting of preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 2. Judge Follett ordered Her's bail bond forfeited and a bench warrant issued fir $100,000.

Ms. Myers said based on additional evidence and Mr. Tipps' remarks, the People submitted on the defense request.
