DNA and toxicology results and retention of experts lead to continuance of Ronald Loureiro jury trial

Trial confirmation and a motion to continue requested by the defense was scheduled for murder suspect Ronald Loureiro this morning. As I reported last time, defense was waiting on blood analysis. Since that hearing, defense received DNA and toxicology results.

Deputy Conflict Counsel Owen Tipps said he received this information 31 days before trial and needs to hire experts. Trial setting is on March 23.

With reluctance, Judge Christopher Wilson granted the motion. He said it wasn't the People's fault that results from the DOJ take a long time. Judge Wilson also expressed concern about the psychological trauma of the minor victims who prep for trial and then have to deal with a continuance.
