First she took her brother's life, then Samantha Hanna and her family disrespected and added to the pain in court

(Dustin and Riane, his girlfriend)

On February 4, Samantha Hanna was sentenced. As a result of her actions on May 2, 2018 , Dustin Finson lost his life. Finson's sister, Heidi Finson travelled to Humboldt for the sentencing from New Hampshire, his mother Kathy Counter t from Vermont and other sister Heather Douglas from New Hampshire. I did a post on the sentencing and that evening received an email from Ms. Finson.

"Good Evening Mr. Chiv,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for writing a blog about my brothers case. I wanted everyone back home in New Hampshire to know that we where fighting for him. Your blog was shared quite a lot in New England today. Maine, New Hampshire,  Vermont,  and Massachusetts."

I wrote about tears flowing inside and outside the courtroom on the day of sentencing. Usually, I write about courtroom observations. This time I wanted you to hear directly from a grieving sister. She sent me this email and photo today once she returned home.

"Good Morning Mr. Chiv,

As I write to you tears still sting my eyes. That day in Courtroom Five we had the chance to finally look at the murderer in the eye and tell the judge just exactly the man Dustin Finson was. We all had precious moments of pictures of Dustin facing her way to show Samantha Hanna what she did. She showed no remorse and interrupted multiple times while the judge spoke as well as the victims.  Samantha Hanna's mom entered the courtroom late and was very well under the influence of a substance. She was heckling my grieving mother and the bailiff watched her to make sure she left my grieving mother alone. My mom told her to "To be quiet  and leave me alone" The mother has been kicked out of court numerous times due to her erratic behavior. "

"The judge that day was very kind and sympathetic.  He listened to every victims impact statement and let us have our time to speak.  Trent Timm did an amazing job fighting for justice and we are forever grateful.  Words cannot explain the gratitude we have for Mr Timm as well as Mr. Walker. "

The judge said to Hannah, " You will never receive forgiveness from the family, Only you can change your life and choices!"

Sincerely,

Heidi Finson"
