Maziar Eshghipour arraigned on fourth amended complaint

Setting of the preliminary hearing and motion for return of property was continued to January 13 for Maziar Eshghipour and continued again by the defense to this morning.

Eshghipour was in court today with both his attorneys, Mr. Patrik Griego and Mr. Greg Rael. A third attorney, Mr.David Michael appeared via court call for third party petitioners. Deputy District Attorney Tobias Hasler is the prosecutor for the case.

There was discussion regarding how property of third parties had been seized by the District Attorney's office. A written ruling on the third party petition will be issued by Judge Lawrence Killoran early next week.

Eshghipour was arraigned on a fourth amended complaint. Count 1 is Elder or dependent adult abuse, Count 2 is Insurance fraud, Count 3 Practicing dentistry without a license, Count 4 is Counterfeiting a diploma, certificate or transcript and Count 5 is Using a counterfeit diploma, certificate or transcript to practice dentistry.

Mr. Griego entered pleas of not guilty and denied all special allegations on behalf of Eshghipour. A time waiver for both 10 and 60 days was entered. Defense reserved the right to demurrer.

A status/readiness conference is scheduled for March 11;  intervention is on June 2 and preliminary hearing is on June 10.

There have been numerous continuances and not much happening with this case. I will add the ruling to this post but any new post will be based if there is something significant to report.
