"All we have from Dave is he got pissy with me"

Four people gave victim impact statements this morning at David Kobak's sentencing and all were family members. One was his son who was adopted and found out about Fred Loftus' death via an obituary. These are the circumstances that reunited him with the Loftus family.

The first family member who spoke was Amanda Reeves. "All I have is text messages  on my phone that I can read. I am angry at you David for doing this."

Fred Loftus' son Michael C. spoke next. "When I was 5, I was adopted and my name got changed. They never told Fred." He found out about his father's death via an obituary. "I got robbed of a relationship with him."

The third family member to speak was Jacquelyn Dahl, Fred Loftus' older sister. Two others brothers had "passed away" and with Fred Loftus' murder, she lost her only brother.

"Fred met Kobak when he was young,"said Dahl." He never said anything bad about Kobak. When this happened, I couldn't believe such a vicious thing happened. To shoot him so many times."

The last family member to speak was Crystal Loftus. That is how she gave her name in court. In previous posts and communications, she has used Lomanto as her last name. She was the last to speak and she said she wanted to end her statement with a prayer for  Kobak. All the family members attending prayed with her.

"I will never forget the day I got a call that my father had been shot by his friend David Kobak," said Crystal Loftus. "I thought it was an accident. Then as I learned details, I was confused."

Crystal Loftus said her father had large hands. If he had it Kobak, there would be evidence.

" I imagine my father lying in a pool of blood betrayed and abandoned by his friend." "All we have from Dave is he got pissy with me," said Crystal Loftus. She called Kobak "a waste of life" for asking for reduction of charges.

I have been in constant contact with Crystal (Lomanto) Loftus, one of Fred Loftus' daughters. I was the first one to speak to her from local media. That post is listed below. I conveyed my condolences to the family after the sentencing and gave them the space they need to heal.
