Shantaram Jones refuses to come to his arraignment

Shantaram Jones was arraigned on April 10. The charge is PC 451(b)-arson of an inhabited structure or property.

He was to be arraigned at 1:30. His case wasn't called until 4 p.m. Correctional deputy informed Judge Timothy Canning that Jones was being "unccoperative with deputies and refusing to come down."

Arraignment was continued until Monday.  Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer asked if the Court would require jail staff to make Jones appear for arraignment if he refused on Monday.

Judge Canning said he had ordered Jones to appear. Whether he would be forced to appear at arraignment, according to the Penal Code, would be up to the Judge handling the calendar on Monday afternoon.
