A day after her release, woman reported to EPD for alleged assault of realtor

Barbara Wheeler Hotchins was arrested on April 14 by HCSO for public intoxication and released on OR for the misdemeanor charge.

On April 15, a realtor had an incident involving Hotchins. Humboldt Association of Realtors informed their members. I contacted EPD.

EPD Crime Analyst Brittany Powell told me there is a record of call "but it does not appear a report was taken." The officers who responded are unavailable right now and she is going to  follow up with them and get back to me.

Humboldt Association of Realtors sent the following information to members:

"On April 15, 2020, a Realtor was standing by with a carpet company as they cleaned the carpets of a vacant home in downtown Eureka. The front door was ajar as the carpet company came in and out with supplies. A woman passing by walked into the home and the agent repeatedly asked her to leave. The woman became more aggressive and shoved her body against the agent. The agent was thankfully able to push the woman out the front door, shut and lock the door.  They then phoned the police to report the assault.

Through some research the woman was found to be Barbara Wheeler-Hotchins (48 years old) who has been arrested numerous times out of state for assault and harassment charges. A report has been made with the Eureka Police Department."

Please be careful.  Always call local law enforcement and make a report if any type of confrontation occurs.  We wish all our members to be safe!
