42 bundles, 43.78 pounds of meth, street value of $98,505 seized by San Diego Border Patrol



U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a woman at the I-8 checkpoint near Pine Valley on Monday afternoon who had bundles of methamphetamine concealed inside her vehicle.



The incident began yesterday, April 13, at approximately 1:10 p.m., when agents referred a Dodge Journey to secondary inspection after a K-9 alerted to the vehicle.

Agents searched the vehicle and found 42 bundles hidden inside both rear quarter panels.  The bundles tested positive for methamphetamine, weighed 43.78 pounds, and has an estimated street value of $98,505.

The driver, a 22-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested.  Both the woman and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.  The vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

Since October 1, 2019, San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents have seized more than 1,956 pounds of methamphetamine, which has an estimated street value of more than $4 million dollars. Methamphetamine seizures in San Diego Sector are up more than 7 percent from year-to-date FY19.
