Will there be a sixth continuance for the Opera Alley murder case?
On February 24, during intervention for Opera Alley murder suspect Connor Whited, the preliminary hearing for today was confirmed. Defense motion to exclude statements was also continued to today.
Whited is charged with the murder of Brett Keiling and a special allegation that he used a deadly weapon; a club.
Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke is Whited's attorney. Deputy District Attorney Adrian Kamada is the prosecutor.
This case has been continued and rescheduled five times. It is a two day estimate and time waived case. Today, it was scheduled with a packed preliminary calendar, several time not waived cases and limited courtroom availability.
Eureka Police Department Senior Detective Ron Harpham and an evidence tech were in court. At 10:50 a.m. , Judge Kaleb Cockrum told "he would not have information needed until 1:30."
All parties will return at 1:30. Will there be a sixth continuance?
