"Murder suspect Richard Dean smiles and mouths " Hi Mom"

Trial setting was scheduled for robbery and murder suspect Richard Dean on September 11. His third case for battery on a custodial officer was scheduled for disposition/reset this morning but it is trailing the other cases.

Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is the prosecutor for this case. Dean's attorney is Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin.

Trial setting was continued to September 19 at the request of both attorneys. They have met informally and will meet again to make sure defense has all discovery and go over scheduling.

Before court, Dean's mother was talking with Mr. McLaughlin. I overheard, "the murder weapon was found near the Chevron station."

Victim in the homicide case is Anthony Pennucci.
