Cy Vandermeer pleads guilty to burglary charge

Setting of preliminary hearing was scheduled on September 10 for Cy Vandermeer's felony case, charge is burglary. His other 2019 case for a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property was on for pre trial.

Instead, Vandermeer entered a guilty plea to first degree residential burglary. This is a conditional plea because Vandermeer will get felony probation because he has no criminal record. He can get up to a year in jail. That will be decided at sentencing.

There was no agreement to jail time. The misdemeanor case was dismissed with a Harvey reservation.

Sentencing is scheduled for November 13.

  1. Is it typical for someone who burglarizes in excess of $10,000 to plea down to zero time in prison or jail?
