John Chiv: Third District Mike Wilson finally has a challenger

Roy Gomez is running against Third District Supervisor Mike Wilson. For First and Second District, the candidates are the same I mentioned in my last update. I checked in a few minutes ago with the elections office.

Yes, this is the Roy Gomez who has been regularly speaking at Eureka City Council meetings. Gomez has a business in Arcata and a business in Eureka. He just confirmed with me he submitted signatures today and made other payments. He told me he is submitting his statement on December 7.

His Facebook friends include Eureka Mayor Kim Bergel, Eureka Housing for All petitioner and Citizens for a Better Eureka member Michelle Costantine and Patty Sue, who is the wife of Security National's Tim Callison. His campaign Facebook posts is liked Patty Sue, Michelle Costantine, by Security National's Kenny Carswell, Ryan Bode as in related to Travis Scneider's wife, Stephanie who oversees Bode Property Management.

I had previously not posted his claim against the City of Eureka, specifically calling out Eureka Councilmember Leslie Castellano. While the story had been covered by TS, Gomez and I had been unable to meet and I wanted to do a more in depth coverage and had several questions. I got busy and so did Gomez. That is still the case, I am still trying to catch up with other current news. There has been no court case filed so until that happens, there isn't much to update on the claim.

I don't want this post about his Arcata candidacy to be about old news but am adding the claim so potential voters can see the initial document for themselves.
