I said hi to EPD Captain Stephens but he didnt acknowledge. Stephens has never been very friendly to me and I could care less. Most of EPD and those who matter and are an asset to this community have my respect and I theirs.
I have been fair in my coverage of Captain Stephens but I have never thought Stephens should be in a command position for many reasons. At EPD and among former officers there is a pro Stephen camp and even those ranks are lessening day by day. Then there are those who know better. We don't need the good ole Andy Mills era back at EPD.
Chief Todd Jarvis comes highly recomended by former EPD Chief Andy Mills. This fact and what I am about to share about the selection of the last chief and current has been shared with me by multiple people and variety of different sources from different walks of life over the course of several months. I have combined the comments from multiple people reiterating the same information.
"Chief Todd Jarvis comes highly recommended by former EPD Chief Andy Mills. Brian Stephens is a big time Mills fan. He thinks Mills is the great white savior. I'm assuming Stephens is kissing up to Jarvis because Mills told him to. Stephens does not have the education to be chief and that is why Miles waived the education requirement for the position. Mills supported Stephens for Chief when he left but because of the education requirement Stephens was not qualified so Watson got it because Watson has a degree in religious studies."
"Mills, Watson, Stephens, Slattery and several others are intimidated by you. They all have skeletons that they don't want coming out."
14 people in the audience including Robert Tuel and Cornelius Loewenstein. One very loud man bragging about "8 cops at the last meeting and 4 refusing to wear mask" and telling others "they missed the action." He was then egged on by another guy. He and a few others were still outside ranting when I left the City Council meeting.

Humboldt Bay Fire Chief Sean Robinson is giving his report. EPD Sgt. Eddie Wilson came in after the meeting started.
6:26 Cornelius is the first speaker for public comment. He is addressing the Eureka Council is saying that he is a Jewish immigrant, he was discriminated against and brought up the lawsuit filed against him by Councilmember Bergel. Cornelius asked Bergel to resign and just left Eureka City Council chambers but he is back.
Third speaker is talking about Eureka being unsafe, needles, drugs and panhandling. "There is no need for needles to be all over the City of Eureka."

The City of Eureka is allowing in person meetings with an option to participate via Zoom. The County chambers are larger and the County's refusal to allow constituents direct access is cowardly and shows the County's disrespect for people who pay their salaries.
