It has been 10 days since Little Eagle Moon was arrested. He has not been booked for attempted murder yet so I assume he has not been medically cleared, yet. I had previously reported he was at St. Joseph's hospital in Eureka. He was but then transferred to U.C. Davis.
We still do not know who the officer(s) is who shot him and no body cam or update from Eureka Police Department. If there was not an issue with the shooting, why the delay?
I have a partial description from at least two completely different sources who both said it was an EPD officer. And I won't tell you how I figured it out who it is and but I did. So City of Eureka and EPD Interim Chief Jarvis, is it an EPD officer and a member of the POP team? I will add it is not the officer in charge of the POP unit.
I had mentioned in previous coverage that my hunch is there will be a delay. If there is any gray area about it being a justified shooting according to current policy, EPD and the City cannot afford the community backlash or a potential lawsuit. I also said the delay could be because the officer has a previous record.
I was right about the delay. Unfortunately, as I looked into this further, I was surprised who the officer is because it someone who arrests the worse kind of criminals and felons. The EPD officer is very well liked in the department for the same reasons I mentioned.
I hope the shooting was justified. But shooting into a moving vehicle, if there were other people in the car which I was told by sources would most likely be against current EPD policy barring major unusual circumstances.
After the Lasinski shooting several years ago, EPD changed its policies to make shooting at a moving vehicle out of policy except in extreme situations such as a terrorist attack using a vehicle as a mass casualty weapon.
I was right about Moon being the suspect and EPD confirmed it later in a press release. I was right about the scoops and news I printed in the "EPD text investigation" long before anyone else. Those are only two examples. There are several on a daily basis and over 7 years since I started this blog.
Before his recent arrest on December 30, Little Eagle Moon had 35 cases in the Humboldt Superior Court system.
Michael Kelsey, Jr. filed a civil harrassment lawsuit against Little Eagle Moon in 2020 which was granted by Judge Lawrence Killoran. A previous family law/child support case.
Is the City of Eureka behind the delay? They have been the delay regarding the "EPD text investigation." The City still has not released what was discovered by the firm they gave thousands of dollars to "investigate." They don't get to scapegoat five officers and sweep the real issues under the rug. The City of Eureka and this useless Council has created the environment where EPD's job gets tougher each day with no real support from the City and the last Chief who did not stand up for his officers.
This micro managing of what EPD can release or not release has been one of the many disasters under this current Eureka City Council.
The City of Eureka, EPD brass and the anti police nuts in this town have chased away all the good EPD officers. I predicted this since the Occupy days. We still have good officers left but they are outnumbered and bear the brunt of the actions of a few bad apples from the past and currently in the department. Rookies is all Eureka and Humboldt attracts and it isn't just the pay. It is the way officers are treated by their own and the vocal anti cop shills in this County.
