I was waiting for Ms. Stacey Eads to make a public announcement and she did. Will Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees throw in his hat? After Ms. Eads announcement,I doubt it.
Deputy Public Defender Adrian Kamada is not going to send me a statement but Assistant Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads did. I have covered Humboldt County Superior Court for 7 years and before that was familiar with the system when I worked as a Social Services aide for Humboldt CWS.
Ms. Eads is a champion for women and children, especially survivors of sexual abuse and assault. She has prosecuted all types of cases.
There is only one choice for who should be the next Humboldt D.A. and it is Ms. Eads. I am not going to list a couple of cases because just google both names on my blog. Who are you going to trust? Politically biased endorsers and funders or the one person who has covered and brought you the truth, court cases no one else covered and exposed Humboldt Superior Court.
The choice is between a professional, a strong woman and someone who is respected by her colleagues or a biased, unprofessional, immature, loser who left the D.A.'s office and is buddies with a Humboldt Judge currently facing two lawsuits with serious allegations. Those allegations should be independently investigated regardless of the outcome of the lawsuits.
Ms. Eads has decades of experience. Kamada has been lawyer for less than 8 years. He cannot even manage to get to court in time or get an intelligible sentence out and is definitely not management material.
I won't even dignify the comparison as attorneys because Kamada is not worthy of that title. He is a lousy attorney but like most local incompetents knows some Humboldt comnected.
Ms Eads statement:
"I am announcing my candidacy for Humboldt County District Attorney. I have served our community as a prosecutor since returning home to Humboldt after law school in 2001."
If Humboldt County affords me the opportunity to serve as District Attorney I will apply my proven commitment to compassionately achieve justice, vigorously advocate for protection of the rights and well-being of crime victims, and never lose sight of my duty to promote safety for all of Humboldt. "
"As District Attorney Maggie Fleming stated, “Stacey Eads has had a remarkable 20-year career in the District Attorney’s Office. She has handled every type of case, from misdemeanors, to general felonies, juvenile offenders, and currently the most serious child abuse and sexual assault cases. She has served as a Deputy D.A., Senior Deputy D.A. and is currently the Assistant D.A."
"Her current assignment combines the ongoing challenge of being a top prosecutor with gaining experience in the many additional challenges involved in running the District Attorney’s Office, including recruitment and retention of high-quality people, dealing with the budget, and building and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide variety of people and agencies. Stacey has my complete support and endorsement because she is an ethical prosecutor with the professionalism and dedication to rise to the challenges of serving as D.A.”
1/20/22: I saw Mr. Rees at the courthouse and he said that he was not "throwing his hat" in the race.
