He actually cares about his officers, and non-uniformed staff and makes an effort daily to check in with them. Sure, the men and women of EPD need a lot more support, but Stephens is a great start."

"In my personal opinion, he is more qualified than Watson. He treats his employees with respect. Acknowledges their needs and wants. He cares. Watson has been MIA since this scandal and Stephens has stepped up like usual. I’m sure most EPD employees are shocked and upset that Stephens is not interim. They will lose another great man if they keep mistreating him."

I know Eureka well; I definitely know EPD well and my reporting is based on being out in the community, the courts and my own observations

Yesterday, I did this post. What I had to say about Miles Slattery and Steve Watson resonated well and all day, I have had people cheering me on and asking me to keep up the good work, whether in a comment, in person or other communication.

The people of Eureka and Humboldt know who has their back.

It is about who could be the next interim police chief in Eureka.

If Eureka City Miles Slattery or EPD Chief Steve Watson want to respond, they can in writing. No phone calls, no in person chats. This is in response to your text and call Chief Watson. I don't trust what either of you say; written or verbal. At least with a written response, it is something I have documented.

I have been trying to take the day off. I need it. I will not waste it on you Steve Watson but I will always make time for the men and women in blue who are there for me and this community. I wouldn't miss a thing about Eureka when I move except EPD.
