In my initial post about the "EPD texts" months ago, I predicted this development and that Chief Watson would be one of the targets. I made some remarks and observations in my last post on the news about Chief Watson leaving.

The following paragraph refers to EPD Chief Steve Watson, EPD Captain Brian Stephens and EPD Captain Patrick O' Neill. I was the first one to report that O'Neill was on admin leave and why. I have been wondering if O'Neill would be back.

"Watson was going to be fired and they gave him the option of resigning /retire as he called it. They are going to hire outside the department. Brian does not have the requirements to be Chief . O'Neill still out but he will not return to work anytime soon."

Just as the many exclusives, scoops, especially about the contrived "EPD text scandal", once again news reported here first from the independent media source locals trust.

Of course, the City of Eureka won't bring O'Neill back until the dust settles and they get to do more scapegoating and spin. He is one of the people they shouldn't be bringing back. The clueless 5 on the Council, the Mayor and Eureka City Manager Miles Slattery will keep the bad apples and probably promote them.

The City of Eureka will make every police officer go through sexual harassment and other training instead of firing the bad apples who engage in inappropriate, racist, sexist, homophobic or other egregious behavior.

Firing the bad apples would create a temporary and further short staffing at EPD but it would actually be the change needed. The good officers wont have to bear the brunt and be tainted by the actions of a few.

The jokers at Eureka City Hall; especially the Mayor and the five progressive/liberals on Eureka City Council talk the talk but do not walk the walk when it comes to protecting women, people of color or law abiding citizens.

Most people saw through the spin by City of Eureka about EPD Chief Steve Watson's resignation.

Will the interim police chief be local retired law enforcement or a former EPD police chief? Or will the City of Eureka waste more money to recruit nationally, fire the new hire, then not release any information. Remember the last City Manager and the cost?

Who would want to work for a city that doesn't have your six and makes decisions based on what is politically expedient.
