On October 16, 2021, at approximately 6:45 pm, a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup, driven by a 59 year old male was traveling southbound on Hoagland Road east of Zenia Bluff Road. For reasons still under investigation, the driver drove the Dodge off the west road edge of Hoagland Road.
The Dodge overturned and it's right side impacted the descending dirt embankment. As the Dodge continued to overturn down the embankment, the driver was partially ejected and sustained fatal injuries. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Garberville Area office. Drug or alcohol impairment as a factor will be determined upon a full collision investigation.
