"A lot of our cooks, when we had to lay off a percentage of them during COVID, they found work in construction because construction was booming and they're not coming back. They like working outdoors not over a hot stove."

After the pandemic, there are staffing shortages and some industries such as retail, hospitality and restaurants are struggling more than others. An article from NBC in Los Angeles confirmed what people informally know. Some people have moved on to better paying jobs.

In Humboldt, healthcare and hospitals are offering people better paying jobs. Restaurant workers and housekeepers have left their old jobs. The people still working are working longer hours, more shifts and under more stress. The real cause of why there are these vacancies is not addressed in staffing shortage articles.

According to NBC LA," 37% of California restaurants can't pay their rent. Restaurants are struggling to get back on their feet and can't find enough workers to meet the demand as customers return.

To attract workers, restaurants and industries are offering higher wages and hiring bonuses. But they still can't fill the positions.

"There are currently 350,000 unfilled restaurant jobs in California."

After extended unemployment benefits ended in September, jobs vacancies remain.

In the NBC article, one restaurant owner says, "A lot of our cooks, when we had to lay off a percentage of them during COVID, they found work in construction because construction was booming and they're not coming back. They like working outdoors not over a hot stove."

Those working are having to put in longer hours and are exhausted. The greed and ineptness of politicians that politicized COVID and still refuse to address greed and corruption are to blame.

While this is not addressed in the NBC LA article, evictions, threats of evictions and forcing people out and lack of housing with already unaffordable apartment rents jacked up more and apartments unavailable because every one wants short term rentals will have further impact. Those with land, power and means punish the people instead of the politicians.

Ultimately greed will hit the pocketbook of those of you who don't treat people who help line your pocksts well. So stop blaming unemployment benefits and pandemic relief that never reached many who needed it and those who had their income cut but still tried to work during the pandemic. Yes, there are people manipulating the pandemic relief but that includes the rich.

Stop putting all workers, all landlords in one box. The courts are broken, the system is broken and the people responsible are politicians and millionaires like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos who are a prime example of wasting money for their egos on useless space flights and exploiting labor. That isn't capitalism; that is greed. And all over the world, religion enables evil, greed and politics. Those who believe in God practice God's word in action. They don't need the institutions who are tools of politicians and the corrupt rich.
