Trial setting and appointment of counsel was scheduled this morning for Michael Acosta and Sarah Carroll.
At the last court hearing, Acosta who was representing himself, withdrew and asked for a court appointed attorney to be appointed to represent him.
I said in the last post that there would be conflicts for most attorneys. The Public Defenders and local private attorneys are already representing various people involved involved in the same investigation. However, Mr. Zach Curtis was appointed today. We shall see if he has a conflict. Mr. Curtis was a former Deputy DA in Humboldt and Crescent City. He is now in private practice.
Trial confirmation is on 6/27/22; jury trial 7/11/22.
Andrea Sullivan, a private attorney who practices in several California counties was appointed to represent Carroll.
Deputy District Attorney Jane Mackie is the prosecutor for the case.
