After 20 years in business, AA closes suddenly due to unfortunate developments

Being robbed by David Lee Moon aka the "Lost Coast Bandit" is the least of AA check cashing located on 5th street in Eureka. This Saturday, the owner came in from Arizona and suddenly closed the place down. AA is no longer in business.

I spoke with Ms. Jennifer Oliver just now. She is the owner and has owned this business for 20 years. Ms. Oliver moved to Arizona seven years ago and the business was run by an employee.  AA is closed for "financial reasons."

There are more details and specifics I had already knew before I called and were confirmed by Ms. Oliver. Right now, I am not publishing them but there will be an update. I am aware that some people in the community may know some details or may have heard gossip/pieces of why AA is closed. Ms. Oliver was very forthcoming with me.

I made a choice not to publish all the details I have today because there is a bigger picture and reasons than getting the whole scoop today.

This is a long time, local business. It is owned by someone who this community should be proud to call one of their own. The property is managed by decent people. It is the only lifeline for customers who use this business. A lot of people's lives and livelihood have  been affected by something very unfortunate.

Ms. Oliver broke down in tears as she spoke with me. Her biggest concern is her customers. In two days, she has reached most people but if you have not spoken with her; need to reach her; the cell phone is in the photo and posted on the door.

"I did not want to do this," said Ms. Oliver. Over and over, Ms. Oliver expressed concern for her customers.  She wants them to know they can call her directly. There is also safe, office equipment for sale.
