I wanted to write about her but she just wanted me to thank her customers

(I chose this image. Thank you from Manuela. Thank you from me. Thank you to all my advertisers. )

Last June, I did a post on Manuela Henry who owns Munwela's Barber Shop located at 505 L Street.

That post was about extra safety precautions Henry implemented on her own to reassure her customers during the pandemic.

Some of the changes she made and has maintained are: in addition to the certification from the County, she got a COVID 19 certification. She went and got tested at UIHS before she reopened.

This September, Henry celebrated her 10th year in business. Asked what she was most grateful for, Henry responded, "I want to thank all my customers."

I wanted to write about the barber services she offers and more about her but Henry said, "I just want my customers to know how grateful I am to them, especially during the pandemic."

Her regular customers feel the same way. Henry was and is there for them, despite her business being impacted due to COVID 19 closures. Besides her job, Henry takes care of her elderly parents and her grandchildren. Like most of us, in addition to the impact of pandemic on our livelihood, she faced other challenges. Yet, she keeps those doors open.

Henry sanitizes and cleans in between appointments. She used to do walks ins but now asks people to call 707-497-8802 to make an appointment. She wants to make sure there is sufficient time in between customers to minimize contact.  This is another COVID 19 change and precaution she  implemented. "I want my customers to feel safe."

I like to support and highlight many of the wonderful local businesses who just work hard every day.

They dont rub shoulders with the Chambers of Commerce, they don't get promoted by politicians with an agenda or because they have some connections. They are successful because they give 200 percent to their customers. They chose to own a business in Humboldt despite the challenges.

These businesses include the advertisers on my blog but also other businesses such as Munwela's.

Any advertiser you see on my blog started out as someone I got to know by being out in the community.  I don't just put any ad on my blog.

I actively look to support local businesses. I actively seek advertisers I am proud to have on my blog. Please pay forward the kindness and excellence these businesses offer you.
