If you appreciate this blog, support the people who invest in what benefits all of you daily

This is your blog. It is the voice of all people. It isn't controlled by anyone.  You have a choice where to spend your money. Every dollar, every choice should be spent supporting those businesses who are there for you daily and when it matters.

Whether it is the Courts or the community, business or politics, after 18 years of being involved in the community I know the local players, the BS, the tactics and the story beyond the surface. That is what makes local reporting and journalism successful and effective.

I actually spend time investigating and reporting. Every delay caused by the inefficiency and Humboldt way of things not working like the booking log or access to information adds up to time I could spend more productively. Time I could spend making money.

In addition to the daily output, original, detailed and live reporting of news people want, news not being covered anywhere else; there are people constantly contacting me because they can't get information from the people and places who are getting paid to do so. More time spent because others are lazy, incompetent or don't give a damn.

People contact me because they are either ignored or don't trust other media. I am innundated with messages and emails and I still respond. People contact me about court cases I am not covering.

Unlike others, I care, invest and report on cases, including people and cases involving people who don't make the headlines elsewhere because everyone matters. I cover all news regardless of someone's local status, power or influence.

I don't need to prove my effectiveness or value. I get results. I am appreciated by many in Humboldt. I am appreciated and valued by even more outside Humboldt.  I no longer share any kudos or national success on this blog. I share it with people I trust.  People who invest in me and are happy for me.

There is a need for this blog. The people who financially invest in this blog care about truth and independent reporting. Thank you. The people who share posts and send me tips and stand up for me. Thank you.

I am one person reporting and earning income to support this blog.

Many of you have asked how you can support this blog. Thank you. For those who have supported me, especially those surprise cards and letters. Thank you.

People who want to reach me or support independent quality reporting, I am accessible. Even without the contact tab on my blog in the last couple months, people know how to reach me.

If you value my reporting, words and tips are nice; they do not cover my bills and expenses. To show appreciation, support my advertisers. Not only because they are on this blog but because I don't just put anyone on my blog.

Featured means something on my blog. These lawyers and businesses invest in the community, are decent people and excellent in the quality of the service they provide.  My advertisers see concrete outcomes for the reasonable amount of money they invest.

If you cannot invest in ads, share the posts, talk to businesses about me. Send me referrals.

News is like any other business. It requires money to operate. Every single person in this community profits from this information on this blog. I chose to provide access to all for free.

People need to support those media sources who provide information to all for free; not the sources with sub standard information whining about a paywall or greedy owners with a monopoly on media outlets. Especially when they have corporate owners, use cookie cutter ads that don't stand out and most of their content is days old, press releases and following up other people's original reporting.

News should be free and accessible to all. I keep this blog simple and expenses minimal so I can pass those savings to my advertisers who work hard for their money.

Other local media either has corporate funding or other income. I don't. News is an industry that is highly competitive and with digital marketing and COVID 19 and other factors; every one is struggling. It affects some of us more than others.

I am not a social worker or a non profit or a government employee or funded by anyone dictating what I can publish. This is a business and my livelihood. I have spoken up, told your stories and exposed the very people who have screwed you over, your business, your life.

My priority is my blog and the people who are there for me personally and financially. Not people who keep expecting me to take risks for them for free, waste my time or attempt to use me.

I am successful despite the sabotage and challenges which are one hundred per cent caused by the same few people, organizations, businesses in Humboldt that have also done you wrong.

If you want me or any other business you value to be around, you need to make some sacrifices, choices and support us. Expecting it to be one way, all the time, is not how it works.
