Sean Timothy O'Brien arrested for attempted murder and assault with a firearm

Sean Timothy O'Brien was arrested yesterday on a warrant by HCSO for PC 12022.7(a), PC245(a)(2) assault with a firearm, PC12022.53(c) and PC664/187(a), attempted murder. Bail is $1 million.

HCSO PIO Samantha Karges told me,"Yes, I can confirm now that he is the suspect in the McKinleyville bar shooting and he was taken into custody yesterday afternoon by Sheriff’s deputies at his home in Eureka."

I posted that there was an arrest warrant for him and that he was not in custody on two days ago. O'Brien was arrested yesterday.

O'Brien is a former Humboldt County correctional officer who was fired.

I received more information received today from someone who knew OBrien in a personal and professional capacity.

"Hey John. Read your post on the Mckinleyville shooting. I have known O'Brien since the late seventies because we went to school together. Lost contact with him after we graduated high school in the mid 80s. After high school, he went to the army before he became a CO."

I am not putting the exact specifics how this person knows about O'Briens career as a CO to protect them and their family.

"You know how was jail career ended."

"I noticed he has some mental / anger issues. Just my perspective from his Facebook posts. Very angry, nobody likes him, etc.

"The reason I contacted you is that IF he happens to be the suspect in the Mckinleyville shooting, he is also the active teacher of the local 4-H gun safety class for kids/teens."
