What does a former Humboldt CO who was fired have to do with the Central Station shooting?

There has been no update on the September 27 shooting at the sports bar on Central Avenue in Mckinleyville. The suspect has still not been arrested. HCSO witheld his identity.

Someone who knows the alleged victim contacted me and said the suspect "shot a person who I know at Central Station."

The eyewitness is someone I have known for years. The alleged victim knows who I am and is familiar with my blog. The two spoke and agreed about reaching out to me before the eyewitness contacted me. Both have concerns about the investigation and some statements people have made about the incident and how it may impact the investigation. The eyewitness has given a statement to law enforcement.

Both of them are terrified that the suspect has been released from the hospital and is not in custody. According to the eyewitness, there is an arrest warrant out for the suspect.

The eye witness has known the alleged victim for 5 years and although he is a friend, the eyewitness calls him "my brother." The alleged victim is a member of the "local motorcycle community."

The eye witness told me that Sean Timothy O'Brien is the alleged suspect.

O'Brien is a former Humboldt County correctional officer. If you google his name, there was an article in 2013 about him yelling racial slurs at inmates and that he was fired after allegedly kicking a inmate who was sleeping.

There is also another unrelated lawsuit filed by O'Brien in 2010 that was dismissed in 2012.

The eye witness said O'Brien "came in and was verbally abusive. It was as if he was trying to start a fight with someone in the bar. He went out; came back through the front door. Next thing I know he was shooting my friend. I took the gun and gave it to the bartender. Someone made a false statement saying the bartender took the gun."

The eye witness said the alleged victim did not have a gun.

I have sent an email to HCSO PIO Samantha Karges with questions. This was her response.

"This is still an active investigation under review by the District Attorney’s Office. I anticipate an update that will answer your questions early next week. However at this time, I have no information available to share due to the pending investigation."
