"EPD is currently working an active investigation near the intersection of Hodgson and Q Streets in Eureka. Any residents in that area are asked to shelter in place. Others are asked to stay clear of the area. We will update more shortly." EPD posted this around 3:30 p.m.
Fire and City Ambulance were some of the sirens you may have heard earlier. Acccording to eye witnesses, Ferndale PD, Fortuna PD, CHP and Tribal Police were also on scene.
Multiple people driving by had reported that law enforcement with guns placed on the hood of their cars were around a residence.
The man surrendered. Only update is scene is clear and safe.
I checked with EPD Crime Analyst and PIO Brittany Powell on Monday, October 5, regarding a press release. "I don’t believe there will be a press release on this one since it was mental health related."
