How will other court cases be affected by former deputy Public Defender Rory Kalin's lawsuit?

I was the one who first reported a lawsuit may be connected to Public Defender Marek Reavis being placed on admin leave . I had contacted Humboldt County for a response and a PRA request regarding the lawsuit.

Yesterday, I followed up on that request and County PIO Sean Quincey responded yesterday that he will contact me today. I also sent him another request regarding that PRA this morning.  6 p.m. : It is the end of the day and still no response.

Since my request, we know that former Deputy Public Defender Rory Kalin has filed a lawsuit against Humboldt Superior Court Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis and Does 1-10. I have asked the County for some specifics about that lawsuit.

Personnel information is confidential. However has Rory Kalin contacted the County and is he planning to sue the County as well? If so, the taxpayers should know.

Kalin's lawsuit will affect cases in Humboldt Superior Court. Due to tue coronavirus, court cases have been delayed. With Mr. Reavis on admin leave, while we have an interim Public Defender, someone has to take over the cases Ms. Meagan O'Connell was handling.  And that could lead to more delays.
