You can have multiple failures to appear, flee to Sacramento and still get a slap on the wrist




Nathan and Melissa LaCount resolved their cases this morning before the preliminary hearing for their latest arrest. Needs to complete ESS sentence, complete residential treatment program as part of court conditioned probation. LaCount pleaded guilty to two counts;  one was for a DUI and one for Child Abuse. Three counts were dismissed.

Sentencing is on March 11. His bail bond was exonerated. Nathan LaCount's attorney is Mr. Patrik Griego.

Melissa LaCount admitted to violation of probation in a 2014 case. Her 2017 and 2019 cases were dismissed. She got no additional jail time and was released from custody. This despite multiple failures to appear and fleeing the jurisdiction and getting arrested in Sacramento.  Melissa LaCount's attorney is Deputy Public Defender Luke Brownfield.

Deputy Public Defender Steven Steward is the prosecutor for this case.
