Sohum double homicide trial reset for June 29

Trial confirmation and motion to continue Ulisses Rodriguez' jury trial was scheduled on February 4. I have covered the reasons in detail in two recent posts.

There was some additional information stated by the defense today. Defense is waiting cell phone extraction and report and a DNA expert.

Defense motion was granted by Judge Lawrence Killoran for good cause. Rodriguez refuses to waive time. Case law allows the Court to grant a continuance over the defendant's objection if counsel needs time to prepare.

Jury trial was reset for June 29. A pre trial in two weeks to make sure defense is ready to proceed.

Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor for the case. Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin is Rodriguez's attorney.

In previous hearings, Mr. McLaughlin has addressed  Rodriguez's appellate rights. Today, he said Rodriguez was free to request a Marsden hearing if he wanted.
