Court congestion accurately describes the state of the second floor at the Courthouse

Yesterday and today, there were three full day jury trials until Patricio Segura resolved this morning.  Which means three courtrooms are not available. Today, there were 15 cases on the preliminary hearing calendar and only one courtroom available after the preliminary hearing calendar call, pleas and resolutions  until Courtroom 2 was available this afternoon.

There is regular court business like arraignments and intervention and only one courtroom left. Usually, Judges say courtroom availability when granting continuances or rescheduling. Judge Lawrence Killoran accurately added "due to court congestion" today.

With no shortage of criminals in Humboldt, daily violations of probation, scheduling court cases and covering them live is like the PG & E PSPS. Be prepared to adapt with very little notice.
