On 11-22-2019, the Eureka Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing team (POP), working in collaboration with the City of Eureka Code Enforcement, and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Work Alternative Program (SWAP), assisted by Danco builders conducted a clean-up in the greenbelt area south of 15th and M Streets. This clean-up was in response to neighborhood complaints regarding garbage dumping, trespassing, illegal camping, drug use, and other illegal activities/environmental hazards.

The clean-up began at about 9:00 am and continued into the late afternoon. Due to the sheer volume of trash encountered at this location, heavy equipment had to be utilized to assist in its removal. Ultimately, 11,580 pounds of garbage was removed from this greenbelt area.

The Eureka Police Department would like to thank all who assisted in making our community and environment safer through this successful clean-up. The Eureka Police Department would also like to thank Recology Humboldt County for extending their hours to allow us to complete the project and remove the debris.
