Charles Groves already had 15 cases, including two from 2019 before today's arrest
Charles Groves arrested today by EPD already has 15 cases in the system; 11 are criminal and two 2019 cases. Charges and his convictions include kidnapping, robbery, resisting a police officer and felon in possession of a firearm.

On November 13, 2019, at about 3:30 a.m., an officer with the Eureka Police Department attempted a traffic stop near the 3400 block of Union Street.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, the driver attempted to turn onto Eureka Street from Meyers Avenue, ultimately crashing into a yard and causing minor damage. The male suspect immediately exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief struggle, the officer was able to get the suspect into custody without further incident.
The male was identified as Charles Groves (51 of Eureka). During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded assault rifle equipped with a silencer and bi-pod, a loaded handgun, an unloaded pistol, and body armor that had been previously reported as stolen.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded and handled the collision investigation. Groves was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility (HCCF) for evading, felon in possession of a firearm, numerous miscellaneous weapon charges, parole violation, and resisting arrest.
