Removing plumbing tool leads to arrest of burglary and solicitation of a prostitute
On November 10, 2019, at about 7:30 a.m., the owner of a business called to report that he received a surveillance camera notification at his business on the 1500 block of 4th Street and that a male and female could be seen removing a plumbing tool from inside. Upon arrival, officers located the front door unsecured and no suspects on scene.
Officers met with the business owner and reviewed the surveillance. Surveillance showed a male and female enter the business and load a plumbing tool in a white vehicle.
The male suspect is then seen driving away. A short time after taking the burglary report, an officer located the suspect vehicle nearby. Officers made contact and identified the driver as the burglary suspect, Russel Herman Walters (59 of Crescent City.) The stolen tool was located in the vehicle trunk and returned to the owner.
Walters was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for burglary and solicitation of a prostitute. The solicitation charge was added based on information received during the course of the investigation.
