Intervention was held this morning for Kimberly Felder. Her preliminary hearing scheduled for July 3 was vacated. Criminal proceedings have been suspended, for now.
Defense requested a mental competency evaluation. Judge Christopher Wilson signed that order. A hearing to receive Dr. Ramirez's report was scheduled for today.
Dressed in a red jumpsuit, which means administrative segregation, Felder quietly spoke to her attorney.
Extra HCSO staff accompanied Felder to the courtroom.
Felder mouthed "I love you" a couple of times to a man seated in court. He left quietly after the proceedings, with a pained look on his face.
After reviewing Dr. Ramirez's report, defense requested a second evaluation citing "concerns about Ms. Felder's competency."
Dr. Renouf was appointed. He is asking for a month and a half to provide reports. A date for receipt of that report was set for September 5 at 10:15.
Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads requested a CLETS protective order. Judge Christopher Wilson will rule on that next week.
Even though criminal proceedings have been suspended, DDA Eads explained why she was seeking the order and Judge Wilson is looking into court authority regarding that when criminal proceedings have been suspended.
DDA Eads cited emotional trauma, potential to disuade a witness and "concern for the minor victim and her siblings."
Defense told Judge Christopher Wilson that no dependency proceedings against Felder had been filed.
Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is prosecuting this case. Mr. Hugh Gallagher, appeared on behalf of his colleague, Deputy Conflict Counsel Marek Reavis, today with Felder.
