Attorneys ask for more time to make Doc recommendatons to Court in Ewa Misztal case
Trial setting for Ewa Misztal was continued from July 5 to July 19 at 8:30 a.m. at the request of the defense time to discuss if Misztal wanted to enter a dual plea.
It was continued againto July 27 at 8:30 at the request of both, Deputy District Attyorney Carolyn Schaffer and Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo. Mr. Russo asked to "approach" for a private discussion at the bench.
Visiting Judge Robert L. Crone Jr. said that attorneys needed more time to make recommendations to the Court.
I asked DDA Schaffer after court if this time was to provide the Court with recommendations of doctors and she said,"yes"
Misztal has already entered a plea of not guilty. She has to decide whether she wants to also enter a plea of not guilty by insanity.
If she does, the process will be similar to the Gary Lee Bullock case and trial, including court appointment of two doctors to evaluate Misztal.
Misztal is charged with the death of her baby.
