I took yesterday off and am taking today off and received two emails about Joe Mazzotti. I did not post the first one because it was on social media, the Humboldt Conservatives page is private and the person who sent it to me did say they did not know if the social media posts are accurate. I know the person who sent that email and they were being helpful. They did not know it was my day off.
The news is confirmed by information on the Pima County State Funeral home website.
Then I received this second email. Yes, it irritated me because not only did it interrupt my peace but it is from someone who never contacted me before. He can say what he wants about me and my blog even though he is in denial about court records about Joe Mazzotti but once again, I get misdirected anger from Reddit which is an online cesspool of anons.
I received this email early a.m. Troy got some backlash, he did some research. He was respectful so I cropped his email address but he has also been warned why the original emails may be put back again. Troy posted under an alias on Reddit but now is whining about his real name. This is why anonymous accounts are a detriment because there are no consequences. People say a lot when they can hide behind a screen but when their identity is revealed, they are cowards.
Troy also now realizes that maybe he did not know everything about his buddy Joe or Joe in Humboldt. That is the problem with 90% of people who don't read, research and react. In Humboldt, facts don't matter. Most of the abuse and hate directed at me does not dispute the facts. They are just mad at being exposed or that someone called them out and they respond with insults.
My message to Troy applies to more than just him. I have had so many lies posted about me on Reddit and Facebook and many anonymously; others not. There isn't enough time to fight all of that and it is pointless. It also takes money and local lawyers to have guts. Non profits are selective about who they defend. Their funders and they want headlines. The one lawyer who I spoke to last week was clueless and wanted me to go to non profits and take on powers to be while he and others do not have the guts to do what I do daily and take on the entrenched systems and people. Many people have benefitted from my coverage, many of them can afford to write out a check and support legal expenses and fund my independent reporting. Those who do care about this community and integrity.
What I do is not easy. Even with court records, Joe's "friend" is in denial and sees what he wants.
Of course, another "Joe" defender, some rando, sent an obnoxious email. That person has my email, one which is not public, and I don't think it is about Joe Mazzotti's death. It is just a hater using that as an excuse to troll and waste my time this morning. This person has sent several emails in the course of a few minutes which are going to spam and has been blocked. They are misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, specifics about me and full on anger. Every email from this person has more clues and has been reported to authorities. Even when I share what I go through, it has made no difference.
The conditions I have to work in daily because Humboldt and California leadership are a failure in protecting the media, the public, tenants and economic conditions which do not affect retirees and the one percent. In Humboldt, those who are stagnant and miserable will do all they can to drag down strong and positive people.
Elected officials deal with this, local media deals with this, government employees and law enforcement deal with this because Humboldt allows this abuse and has enabled no consequences and negativity and Humboldt mean girl mentality which even the Humboldt mean boys use.

This is just one of the filthy emails. It is not mental illness. It is anger, hate and personal. This psycho is obsessed and is conservative based on the nonsense and babble which has continued all week. For legal reasons, I will not state my suspicions. All emails have been forwarded to authorities. Nothing justifies this and all of you who sit on the sidelines and are okay with this hate are more despicable than this loser. The local courts and the court system in general is a complete failure in protecting people. Restraining orders do nothing. Just look at the daily jail log and repeat offenders. Mental health diversion is handed out like candy to repeat offenders.
I am not putting up with abuse from anyone, especially randos who think because they can hide behind an email account, they can say or do whatever they want. Conservative or liberal does not matter. Humboldt is full of toxic people and the only way to deal with them is to call them out and stand up to them. I say what a lot of other media won't say to your face and can you blame them? Jerry Springer should bring back his show. He would have years of material from Humboldt.
I lived in other places, reported and I never dealt with what I did in Humboldt. What I report in Humboldt is different because of Humboldt specific reasons. There are those who appreciate it because it is needed. Haters just don't like the underbelly and evil being exposed. They are used to controlling media, elected officials and silencing anyone who dares challenge their power and delusion that Humboldt is copasetic. From Humboldt Reddit to local Facebook pages, the bullies silence anyone who dares express the truth about Humboldt.
Attacking media is what people do instead of looking in the mirror. Attacking media is what people do instead of taking on the systems, powerful people and spew their misdirected anger. I am not going to constantly explain or defend myself to Troy or anyone else. Step up and do what I have for 21 years in Humboldt and 12 years of reporting in Humboldt using your name, losing money, being harassed and threatened. Constantly having to watch your back. Not having peace even in your living situation.
There are a handful of people who have been there for me locally. They will give me the space I need. I don't care about press releases, scoops, I need to take one day off without the nonsense of Humboldt and there is no news that cannot wait a day or two and there is no reason people cannot wait and contact me after my day off.
The only reason I am posting about these emails on the blog is because I do not want any more interruptions on my day off and especially about Joe Mazzotti. I have covered his court cases if you follow my blog. Go google the post just on Wallace and Hinz. All you Joe defenders, go pay his debt to Wallace and Hinz if you think Joe Mazzotti was such a "stand up dude." Put your money instead of constantly running your mouth.

10/24/25: I checked on all of Mazzotti's cases. Nothing has been filed in Humboldt Superior Court about Mazzotti passing; yet. While I was checking on the Wallace and Hinz case and the family law case, I noticed a criminal case filed by the same alleged victim in the family law case. In that case, CR2502240 People v Mazzotti, on 10/24/25, arraignment was scheduled. The only information available in e court was that it was referred to DA for affadavit.
In the family law case, FL2500568 Rashan Pearson vs Joseph Gaetano Mazzotti, the court trial for 11/18/25 is listed as "not heard dismissed." On 10/20/25, a dismissal without prejudice was filed by Pearson. In CV2201961 Wallace and Hinz vs Mazzotti, nothing has happened since bench warrant issued for Jean Mazzotti on 11/25/24. There are no future dates. The last time I spoke with Tom Tellez, he had sold the business.
There is no reason for me to keep checking on any of these cases anymore.
