In less than half an hour, Humboldt "No King" are protestors getting coffee this morning at 5th and E Starbucks

(11:44 p.m. This is across from the 5th and E Starbucks)

In less than half an hour, Humboldt "No King" are protestors are getting coffee this morning at 5th and E Starbucks. I recognize five people out of almost a hundred. I am not posting photos from Starbucks unless it is necessary. I may later. Starbucks is a public place. I also want to wait until later and see if any of these people actually march at noon and how long they stay.

I don't know most of these people but at least a couple used to be friendly until I did not fit in the box they think I should.

Now multi colored hair and other characteristics and appearances do not necessarily mean they are attending the protest later but if you choose to carry signs and have lengthy conversations in public at a coffee shop that I can hear across the room; then it isn't just assumption.

This location has the nicest baristas, clean restrooms, it is conveniently located but with Old Town Coffee, Ramone's, Witness Roasters and the Eureka Co-op within walking distance of the Courthouse; shouldn't these activists support local businesses?

All these protests have not changed anything. There are people working today, including the Starbucks baristas and me who do not have the luxury of a government job like many protestors or retirement or whatever allows people to attend these protests.

What would make more of a difference is helping one person or family affected by the looming SNAP/Cal Fresh cuts and increasing health care premiums because Democrats are throwing a useless temper tantrum; what would make a difference is helping one trans or non binary person who lives every day in anxiety in addition to bread and butter issues; what would bring change is taking on local powers and entrenched systems. What would help is talking to someone you disagree with and treating them like a human being.

I do not need a day to "protest" anything. Every day I take risk including retaliation for my First Amendment right. I have always been open and out and my life has been affected by that choice by actions from some narrow minded liberals and conservatives.

12:16 I am doing live coverage on other platforms with photos since that is where most of the views are.

Just saw local attorney Eric Kirk walking on 5th and H outside the post office. I saw a few others who work for Humboldt Superior Court. It is their day off and they can do spend it protesting.

Unlike those who criticize Humboldt County Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees for excercising his right on his time off simply because his views are not the same as theirs; I don't have double or selective standards when it comes to the First Amendment.

Some people are walking to the Eureka Co-op. Most to the Courthouse. For this protest, people are at intersections. As you can see 5th street is not walkable. I saw a "Release the Epstein Files" and this guy putting on the Mexican flag at 5th and G. This is in Eureka, California for state and national readers.

12:20 Lot of Eureka Police around and visible with trucks and patrol vehicles. Benefits of living in a small community. I was standing with Eureka Police Chief Brian Stephens, Commanders Leonard LaFrance and Wayne Rabang and Officer Nick Jones. People are thanking EPD for being here. Saw EPD Sgt. Jon Omey and Officer Baker at other locations.

12:45 People are still showing up. A group of women are on 5th and I dressed in the Handmaid's Tale outfits. This was one of them who was in the parking lot across from the Humboldt County Courthouse at 5th and I.

Portland comes to Eureka. Did not get the frog costume because the guy wearing it said it was too hot, and took it off while I was taking photos of EPD.

1:06: On 4th street. Took this as some people seem to be headed home. The white truck drove by and yelled "Democrats suck!"

1:56 p.m. This business owner gave me permission to take this photo and said it was okay to put her name. She could not be at the Humboldt County protest today to express, "This is America, Freedom for All" so she showed her support with some creative advertising.
