On 10/8/25, an asset forfeiture case was filed by Jack Rawson against the People of the State of California for a claim of $80, 144.63. There is a Case Management Conference on 11/3/25. There was another filing by Rawson on 10/10/25 for the same amount.
I just saw Jack this morning at the main HCSO office. No criminal charges have been filed by the District Attorney for the September 23 arrest.
Political and personal prosecutions and the criminal justice system have made headlines in the national media and as usual, people believe what they hear and see with a partisan bias and money has always controlled mainstream media. Anyone who disputes that, I have a bridge to sell you.
Humboldt is no different than the nation except that the personal and political has an extra vicious, mean and selective element here. Non profits or pro bono sounds good in reality but they help selectively. You can get a lawyer, if you have the money and the funds to fight the system and even then, there is no guarantee.
The DA went after Ray Christie, now Jack Rawson. Your personal feelings about them or the DA's office or law enforcement are irrelevant. In Humboldt most people do not know Ray or Jack or others personally. People are not black or white. People tend to jump to conclusions on either no interaction or their limited interaction with someone and in Humboldt, some people just obsess with an agenda and are too lazy to look at facts or investigate and research further.
They believe gossip, anons online or what someone they know told them about strangers whether it is the truth or not and have no problem targeting selectively instead if dealing with their own misery, boredom and issues. There isn't a shortage of who could be prosecuted and investigated but in Humboldtia, who ends up in the criminal justice system is the bigger story.
Most of you do not care about the truth or First Amendment and will not fund or support independent reporting or the legal retaliation that follow in this insular County. If you want truth and justice, step out of your fear and selfishness. Next time, it may not be Jack or Ray; it could be you fighting the system. When you just sit on the sidelines, kvetching online, instead of improving your community; the problem is you. Not the DA, not law enforcement and certainly not me for doing a thankless job reporting on court and crime and news others are too scared to cover. Not my problem if the arrest, case or lawsuit involves your friend, your family member or you are someone with status. Humboldt maybe used to media looking the other way. That is not how honest reporting should work and it is only Humboldt where I am attacked and not given credit when even mainstream media has caved into pressure instead of doing their job.
11/13/25: DA filed criminal charges against Jack Rawson today. Two felonies and one misdemeanor. Count 1 money laundering; Count 2 conspiracy to commit crime and Count 3 possession of marijuana for sale. Arraignment is on 1/6/26.
11/17/25: CV2502179 + CV2502213 People of the State of California vs Jack Rawson calendared with People of the State of California vs Julia Rawson CV2502180 + CV2502214. All 4 civil cases considated. Another CMC + Trial setting on 12/19. Deputy DA Ian Harris states People have filed criminal charges against Jack Rawson.
