Mail processing issues with November election ballots

I received my mail in ballot last week and filled it our right away and mailed it from the post office.

Today,  I called the Humboldt County Elections Office to see if it had been received and was referred to this website. I was told by the staff person I spoke with, that last week there were mail processing issues and if my ballot does not show up in the system to keep checking.

I have reached out to Humboldt Humboldt County Clerk, Recorder & Registrar of Voters and I am glad I did.

"Hi John,

Thank you for reaching out and for checking on your ballot. I appreciate your diligence in following the process and making sure your vote is received and counted.

I checked with our team, and it sounds like there may have been some miscommunication. We have not received any reports of mail processing issues from the Postal Service. Our ballot workflow is running smoothly, and we are actually a bit ahead of where we would normally be at this point in past elections.

Ballot tracking updates depend on when the Postal Service scans each piece of mail and when our office processes it. Sometimes it can take a few days to a week for a ballot to appear in the system. Those timelines tend to get faster as we get closer to Election Day, when our team completes Vote Center Worker training and can dedicate more resources to ballot processing. We have a small but exceptional elections team, and everyone here takes great pride in keeping things running efficiently and accurately."--Juan Cervantes.
